Bonneville Salt Flats-Utah

The Bonneville Salt Flats are a unique formation that started at the end of the ice age as the water receded. I have heard about the salt flats growing up, but my parents never took us. As they say, they are not outdoor people. I only recently started taking advantage of all the beauty Utah has to offer.

It was about a 1.5 hour drive from Salt Lake City. I asked Lisa if she would want to go out there to do her bridal pictures and she said yes.

We started driving around 9 am and got there around 11 am, which worked out because the air has been so smokey, we wouldn’t have been able to see anything if we got there earlier.

We drove out on the salt flats a little farther out to get away from the people. We spent about 2 hours taking some fun photos. Even though the smoke did not clear up entirely, but I actually think it worked out better for the photos.

One word of advice, go during sunset to avoid the harsh lighting. I think due to the reflection of the salt flats, but we were struggling keeping our eyes open.
